5/11/2010 – Marshall Goldman: Who’s in Charge, Medvedev or Putin? Does it Matter? And What Happened to the Cold War?
Boston International is pleased to announce that this coming Tuesday, May 11th at 7:00PM we will be hosting an event with Marshall Goldman, a renowned scholar on Russia and US/Russia foreign policy. Professor Goldman will assess the current Russian leadership and who is in charge – an important question for a nuclear-armed country that has no history of power-sharing. He will also discuss the challenges Russia is facing as it strives to expand its worldwide influence and increase global confidence. Finally, Mr. Goldman will offer his insights on Russian relations with the Western world and the balance of power that has evolved over the last 20 years.
We’re excited to announce that we’ll be holding this event at the offices of the Massachusetts Office of International Trade & Investment (MOITI), who have been kind enough to host us at their beautiful waterfront venue across from the World Trade Center
About Marshall Goldman
Marshall I. Goldman is a Senior Scholar at the Davis Center for Russian Studies at Harvard University, where he was previously an Associate Director. He is also a professor emeritus in the Wellesley College Department of Economics. An internationally recognized authority on Russian economics, politics, and environmental policy, Professor Goldman is well known for his study and analysis of the careers of Mikhail Gorbachev and Boris Yeltsin. He is the author of over a dozen books on the former Soviet Union and has written frequently for such publications as Current History, Foreign Affairs, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Harvard Business Review. His articles have also appeared in The New Yorker, The Atlantic Monthly, and Science, and he has been a frequent guest on CNN and “Good Morning America.” Professor Goldman has written regularly for the Russian newspapers, Moscow News and The Moscow Times, and has met with Mikhail Gorbachev, Vladimir Putin, former President George Bush, and President George W. Bush as well as other business leaders, diplomats, and government officials at the highest levels in both the U.S and Russia. He is a 1952 graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and received M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Russian studies and economics from Harvard University in 1956 and 1961, respectively.
